The Grand National

Ann and I always have a little flutter on the National. We pick a horse each, and Emma and Tom also pick one, and I put a pound each way on the four horses. It a harmless tradition that gives us pleasure and very rarely, if ever, any financial gain.

So we went into Coral and placed our bet before popping off to Nero for a coffee.

This afternoon I met Roz (rozwood1970) and Martin at the Windmill, I suppose you could say it was a blipmeet except we've been doing this since before Blipfoto was invented! The main reason is to quaff a pint or two of Abbot ale and chat about this and that.

They switched the TV on in the pub for the big race and the bar filled out a little, though it was still comfortable, most people being behind us rather than in front of the telly so we had a good view and enjoyed watching our horses not win the race.

The only winner as far as I could make out was the chef who must have had that horse in a sweepstake and gave a yelp of glee. Good for her :-)
