The House That Winked

"Winken" is  actually a German verb that means "to wave". "To wink" in German is either "zwinkern" or "blinzeln".  And seeing that "blinzeln reminds me that there aren't any English words that end with "eln"* and I remember mangling the pronunciation of words like "Kartoffeln" (potatoes) and "Pantoffeln" (slippers) when I started out to learn German.

Today started out fine - I went down to the bakery to get bread and lucked out in the fact that bread was just out of the oven.  Warm bread for breakfast - yay.  The weather looked lovely around 8 am - blue skies and sunshine.

That obviously couldn't last and about an hour later, hallo Permagrey.

I had a day of meetings - long and involved meetings.  Consequently, my brain is tired.  I have enough energy to cook dinner tonight, but apart from that I'm finished for today.

*that I know of.
