Simonside at last

Despite 3 hours sleep I had to be out and in the car to meet Ailie at Lordenshaws for 9.30, to yomp up Simonside in time to get home for a shower before my steroid injection at 1.30.

It was sunny but windy as we headed up, turning off to the muddy track down to the red road. I landed on my rear in the mud yet again but was ok. Once on the red road we slogged up on the side of the forest to reach the steep climb to the top. (The forest car park is still closed as a result of storm
Arwen but by taking the route we did we were able to attain the steep way up). There were lots of people about. This blip is taken on the path leading to the red road, with the ridge we were heading for looking splendid in the light ahead.

Once on the top we had a very quick coffee but time was marching on. It seemed a longer way when time was short but we made it back to the cars in under 3 hours. We were pleased as there’s a lot of ascent and also the mud held us up. Ailie’s app said 6 miles but mine was just under 5, 14000 steps.

The GP administered the steroid injection. He said if I was getting no relief in 2 weeks I should contact the muscular skeletal unit. It’s impossible to get through to them so fingers crossed the injection works.

More nonsense in Westminster.
