Forth & Clyde Canal

Took a little walk along the F&C canal before visiting dad. Even now, 50 years on, I can still hear my mum’s words “don’t you go near that canal” … in those long days of the summer holidays, of course we did!

The ‘local heroes’ here are:

Dr Harold Lyon, palliative care pioneer
Reginald Adams, swimming coach
Robert Barr … the inventor of Irn Bru!
Not sure what the bin is famous for ….

Watched West Side Story over tea & cake with dad. All of the lead actors are still alive apart from Natalie Wood. And Rita Moreno (90) has a part in the new Spielberg version - wonderful.
