Maple, chocolate, butter, sugar, and caffeine

Quietly nestled on a busy block in downtown Everett is Karl's Bakery. Karl's reminds me of a small, neighborhood bakery from an earlier time. (In fact, many aspects of Everett remind me of a small, no-frills town from a bygone era.) This morning, in response to one of my episodic outbreaks of sugar-chocolate deficiency, Rich and I headed over to Karl's for some relief.

Our noses were rewarded with the soothing sweet aromas generated by the busy ovens of this wonderful bakery. A large maple pershing, a chocolate mousse-filled twist, plus two fresh coffees did their work. We then headed home, our sugar and caffeine levels restored to normal operating levels.
