Now, as I see it......

I’ve been carpeted

Another ‘record/emergency’ blip, I’m afraid.  We’ve had carpet fitters in all day, so I’ve not had a chance to do much.  When we moved into the house and had all the floorings fitted, we went for something called ‘Westex’ in the hallway; basically a vinyl which looks like wood, and comes in plank shaped tiles.  It needs a screed laying first which has to be absolutely flat.  Unfortunately, the firm we used had a rogue fitter who did a bad job (he’s no longer with them) and we could see ripples in the floor.  We complained, but as they have had so many complaints about his work that they have had to rectify, it has taken until now to get it resolved.  In a way though, it’s done us a favour.  Once the Westex was fitted we decided we weren’t that happy with it; it’s fine in the bathrooms but just felt a bit cold in the hall, so as they were lifting it anyway we got them to put down carpet instead.  It feels cosier already.

Despite the problems the firm fitting it have been brilliant.  They refused to take any money until everything was completed to our satisfaction, and as they did the whole house that is quite a substantial amount.  They have been great to deal with and helpful all the way through the process; if anyone in this area was looking for a flooring supplier I’d happily recommend them.
