Roadmap Out Of Lockdown Step 4b - Day 43

A Frost Flower for Flower Friday (a second view in extras)

“A frost flower is formed when thin layers of ice of are extruded from long-stemmed plants in autumn or early winter. The thin layers of ice are often formed into exquisite patterns that curl into "petals” that resemble flowers.”

Only the second time I’ve ever seen a Frost Flower in the garden, or anywhere else if it comes to it. A hard overnight frost and a sunny start gave way to a cold cloudy day. The temperature was forecast to rise to 5 degrees but in the garden it hovered around 1 degree, the ice in the bird saucers never melted. And talking of birds, since rearranging all the feeders and putting out the new food yesterday, I’ve hardly had any customers at the bird cafe today, though that could have something to do with Six Dinner Sid hanging around in the garden all day!

Take care, stay safe and well...
