Paintbrushes Unlimited

I have always admired this building as it contrasts favourably with all the more modern factory units on the opposite side of the road it is on.

This is locally known as Harris Brushes and is the current building used by a company founded in a workshop in Birmingham in 1928.  Harris's is the largest manufacturer of decorating paint brushes and painting products in the UK.  In 1936, the company moved to Stoke Prior between Bromsgrove and Hanbury in Worcestershire.  These new buildings were completed in 1959.  In the 1980s the company owned 2000 acres of woodland within a 20 mile radius to use as a source for the handles of its brushes.  In 1961 the company was awarded the Royal Warrant which you can just about see over the main doorway, for supply of its pig-bristle brushes and decorating tools to the Sandringham Estate.  The company was originally run on Quaker Principles and the founder, Leslie George Harris was a major sponsor of Arts and Music during the 1960s.
