Digging

The day started with destruction. Tear down the old fence, which was more fixed than it looked. In the end, it was a sledge hammer, and a hat-tip goodbye.
Then the digging.

'By God, the old man could handle a spade.
Just like his old man.' Heaney

My father taught me how to handle a spade, particularly at the peat turfing. I'm not as good as he was, and doubtless he was not as good as his old man.

Still, dug and set 9 posts today, and whilst my spirit soars, my body does not. I chose something red from the booze aisle at Tesco this evening.
And why not?
