Mid Wales and Beyond

St. Dogfan

A horribly overcast and cold day. However our local church was open for the first time that I can remember for many months. Dogfan was a son of Brychan, the 5th century King of Brycheiniog. He established a site for Christian worship on the site of the current church in Llanrhaeadr-Ym-Mochnant, where he was later possibly murdered by pagans. But almost nothing else is known about him. That's him on the right. The church itself is late medieval but was probably established in the 9 century.
