A day out.

A visit to Lakeland Plastic to purchase the crème de la crème of measuring spoons as intimated in yesterday's blip. Double ended, round at one end and elongated at the other (so you can winkle them into spice jars). The clever bit is that they are magnetic so they stick together in the drawer. So unless I was trying to apportion iron filings I'm well happy.

Now Lakeland is usually a trove of ingenious devices so I was looking forward to exploring for grape squeezers, pickling tongs, cocktail stick sharpeners, £1,500 coffee machines - you know the way. Yet denied! They were having a 'Spring Cleaning Event' What a disappointment, the shelves were full of cleaning fluids, scrapers and sponges.

Now next door is Dobbies, which has a fabulous artisan posh food hall, all olives and hand raised pies etc. Noooo! All gone. It's now a bloody Sainsbury's. Another set back.

But at least the spoons made getting out of bed worthwhile.
