Between fen and mountains

One of the perks

I went out looking for a field of flowers and found this one in flower. One of the perks of living round here is the fact that daffodils grow everywhere. Many are discarded at the edge of fields. Others have colonised waste ground. So there is never a reason not to have a vase or two in the house.

There was some consternation in the village when the church clock stopped after a power cut. When I restarted it, the striking was out of synch. Correcting it required rotating the hands through twelve hours. The consequent tolling of the tenor bell was really quite confusing as it struck seventy six times.
