Bird On a Stick

Right about now, at this time of year, the Yellow-rumped Warblers (aka ButterButts) descend on our feeders. They stay, dining on both seed and BarkButter and an occasional insect, sometimes for weeks. Then, all of sudden it seems, the large flock is gone on their 'Spring migration' back 'Up North'. They and the Chipping Sparrows migrate earlier in spring and later in fall than other warblers. It seems that this his little immature female has gotten out in front of the main flock. I expect the rest of her kin to arrive any day now!
