Beauly Crannog

Usually you can hardly see the crannog in the Beauly Firth. It is so featureless and low lying, that it scarcely looks different from the rest of the mud flats at low tide. At high tide it doesn't show at all - except when the waders try to sit on it. Curlews, Oystercatchers and ducks were all balanced on it this evening as the tide crept up their legs.

Eventually, when the wind ruffled the water a bit, they gave up and flew off to find a drier place to spend the night.
