Equation

100 people into cold water won't go.

One of the advantages of swimming through the winter is the diminishing number of people who turn up in the Forty Foot. The shouting and roaring are gone, none of the Hey Anto watch me or Mary, did you forget the sandwiches. Another thing is the rubbish problem doesn't exist in the winter months. Anyone who brings anything with them disposes of it properly or brings it away with them.

Also, the hardy annuals are a very friendly bunch and it is easy to have a conversation with them. It is hovering about 8.2 degrees at the moment, so it is not that cold. I have been swimming off Bray beach mostly, but I prefer the Forty Foot. Hope to get down here again at the weekend.
