Laugharne Literary Weekend 2013

A weekend in Laugharne, home for many years of poet Dylan Thomas who wrote of the "castle walls, brown as owls..." in his poem October about his Birthday walk on St Johns hill. We traced his footsteps several times whilst exercising the dogs between events in the town.

Highlights of the weekend were Miles Jupp, Caitlin Moran, Grace Dent and the bacon, cockles and lava seafood wraps on sale at the food festival running inside the castle walls.

Along the castle walls in the photo you can make out a small gazebo. Both Thomas and Richard Hughes wrote in this amazing room with its small fireplace and views over the beautiful estuary.

The camper on the left is our own Sunny - we secured a good parking slot on the seafront by leaving our campsite early each day and having breakfast once in situ...
