Milk churns on the platform at Oakworth station.

Before the days of milk being moved around the country in tankers, it was transported in milk churns, mainly by rail. These lovingly preserved specimens were on display in the sunshine today on the platform of Oakworth Station, one of the delightful little wayside stations on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway line, a rail preservation society local to Keighley. Oakworth station was heavily featured in the 1970 film 'The Railway Children', based on the book of the same name by E. Nesbit and voted one of the best films ever made.
