Another Languedoc year...

West meets South

Roujan celebrated today with its annual Foire. The streets were lined with stalls selling everything from spotted flamenco shoes to fresh asparagus. Along with donkey saucisson, brebis cheese, ginger syrup mixed with white wine, lime trees, summer sandals, magic whisks, crepes and moules frites, there were line dancers to watch. There's something rather incongruous about American country music blasting out from speakers outside a southern french town hall. But it was all jolly good fun.
