Spinning …

….. a good yarn! My granddaughter, well on the way to filling her first bobbin of homespun wool, after we finally got my old kauri Atkinson spinning wheel going. Success! So exciting & soothing at the same time. It’s amazing how calming the sound of a spinning wheel in motion is.

It’s a fairly large wheel and takes up a lot of room; not ideal for my small villa. So it’s gone to my daughter’s home now.

Funnily enough and very coincidentally, a Christchurch friend offered me an upright spinning wheel today! How amazing. I’m very tempted too. I believe there’s a Spinning & Weaving Guild here too.
