Stanage Edge

Hotel accommodation had been scarce in Hathersage when we arranged our trip. It transpired that there was an endurance event taking place (with some walkers/runners walking doing 100km in 24 hours!), plus a fell race - the Stanage Struggle - taking place today (Sunday). We had planned a walk to Stanage Edge, but the initial signs weren't good. It poured with rain throughout our breakfast, but once we left our hotel, it stopped raining and it looked like it might clear up. It did.

We enjoyed a fantastic walk up, along and back down from Stanage Edge, rewarding ourselves with a pint in a Hathersage pub afterwards. As well as the Stanage Struggle, there was another fell running event (a pairs event) which also routed along part of the Edge but from the other side.
