Hogarth’s House

Judy and I walked over to this small museum this afternoon. William Hogarth lived here; the extra shows a cupboard with ‘his’ clothes for young visitors to try on. The very busy A4 runs behind the wall. It was a quiet country lane in the 18th century.
There was a special exhibition of prints by Paula Rego, who claims Hogarth as an influence. I really enjoyed seeing her work in this context. Her drawing is so strong.
The mulberry tree on the left dates back to Hogarth’s day, and jam made from it was enjoyed by the children he fostered. As it happens Judy is making marmalade today, and we stopped back at mine so I could give her some jam jars.
I started my new physio exercises this morning - ouch!
