The Best History Book

This must be the best history book I've ever read. Written by Peter Frankopan, professor of global history at Oxford University, it clearly and cogently directs us to look at historical events from a different perspective. For example, the Holocaust had its roots in the idea that southern Russia and Ukraine could become Germany's bread basket growing grain to feed the populace, hence the invasion of Russia in WWII.

But that was palpably mistaken and Germany started to run seriously out of food. Answer, get rid of the unwanted population who would be taking food out of Aryan mouths. Since the Jews were already herded into ghettoes and registered in other countries that had been invaded, they were the group that was targeted.

Fell over again, in the conservatory. Don't know how it happened exactly although I hit my head on the music stand with such force that I broke it. Len was out walking Basil but managed to get hold of David up the road. Between them, they were able to pull me up. Bit of a shock.

Video call with George, William and Edward. Will actually let go of the side of the swimming pool this afternoon and swam a bit, a first, and Edward has started his solids.
