A mighty tree

We came upon this stump of a gum tree as we drove back from a trip to Gerringong on the coast. This must have been a mighty tree. It looks as though the tree fellers had trouble severing the trunk and the knotty core, and had to hack away with axes when the circular saw failed.
For those who are into pareidolia, does it look a bit like an advancing tank? Or perhaps a tortoise?
