Made in Scotland Fae Girders....

So happy with progress of the garage construction! It's taken 2 of us 5 days to erect the structural steel, not bad considering neither of us had done any steelwork construction before. Of course, it involved the usual slowdowns whilst trying to figure out how pieces connected, and getting the frame plumb.
Anchoring the columns to the base by drilling 140mm into the concrete turned out to be easier than I expected, and connections involving nuts and bolts were straightforward. But fixing most of the joints, steel to steel, with Tek screws was challenging and time consuming. Nevertheless, 800 screws later and voila!
We're currently on hold waiting for the high winds to subside, hoping for opportunity to affix the roof and wall sheeting next week.
