The Walking Crane, Swindon.

Another trip to the Outlet Centre - this time only to take photographs. (No shopping - well apart from some cards and a book, but they don't really count). The children have gone back to school but my Easter holiday is different. So I have a week of taking photographs (and catching up with friends for the odd coffee).

The Walking Crane is so called because it could move around on specially laid rails on the floor. It was capable of lifting heavy components and fittings of up to four tons in weight. There were similar ones all over the Swindon Railway Works. It was built in 1923.
