Edison and Ford Winter Estates

We visited Edison and Ford Winter Estates at Fort Myers and had guided tour there.
Edison’s home ( on top ) was built in 1886. It served as a winter retreat and place of relaxation until his death in 1931. Henry Ford, Edison's good friend, purchased the adjoining property in 1916. Ford stayed there only a few weeks yearly, in February on Edison’s birthday until Edison’s death in 1931.
Extra 1: Edison partnered with Harvey Firestone and Henry Ford to try to find a rubber tree or plant that could grow quickly in the United States. They planted this tree In 1927. It is the third biggest Banyan tree in the world now. The biggest is in India, second is in Hawaii
Extra 2: Henry Ford’s first one-ton model TT truck.
Extra 3: Original light designed by Edison.
