Another afternoon down memory lane...

Mabel and I paid our weekly visit to Douglas (94), the most positive, cheerful person we know. He was dozing in front of BBC eulogies to Margaret Thatcher on the TV when we arrived. I told him that I had brought something that pre-dated him (not easy as he was born whilst the First World War still raged in 1918) and produced a beautiful scroll that my grandfather's groundcrew had made for him whilst, aged just 19, he finished his tour on the Franco-Belgian border as a fighter pilot in the Royal Naval Air Service flying Sopwith Camels.

Well, that opened the floodgates, and the memories poured out and darted off in a wide variety of directions. At one stage we watched YouTube videos of Terry Thomas, next came a backstage recording of the Goon Show. Time whizzed past and we had a grand afternoon.

After making our farewells, Mabel and I took to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path at Nolton Haven and blew a few cobwebs away on the clifftops....
