The Day Spring Began

We had a visit to the National Trust's Nymans today, joined by my sister. One of the best places I've been to in a while.

The most outstanding things for me were the beautiful hellebores

I could smell a strong perfume and heard someone say it was Daphne. I glanced about me, wondering if Daphne had perhaps been a little too liberal with the scent bottle. But no, it was the so named shrub. Amazingly, despite being only February, it had also brought out the butterflies (see DawnP's blip) and the bees.

I was so happy, I didn't know where to start (or stop for that matter).
