....We Few, We Happy Few

A Life Of Service

An historic day. The first British monarch to reign for 70 years. In years to come students of history will look at her life as we do Victoria now. I consider her an impressive woman. Even more so now given her age. She may not have got every decision right through her reign but then at the end of the day she is only human.

I’ve visited Windsor Castle & Buckingham Palace on a number of occasions. Both fabulous places. I recall the party we had for the Silver Jubilee where my mother worked. Ten years ago, darling girl & I were by the banks of the Thames watching the procession float by. The weather was awful but it was great to be part of the day.

Above is my only sighting of HM, at the wedding of William & Catherine. It was so special singing the national anthem in her earshot.

Today she marks the day quietly. It must be hard to have such a vivid reminder of the death of a parent. As the years have passed you realise just how young he was.

The celebrations in June will be awesome because we always do these things so well. The four day Bank Holiday will go down quite nicely too.
