The Sp’town bus

Down to Bridgetown on the yellow bus. The town’s not going to be on anyone’s grand tour of cultural highlights but the bus trip - the warm air through the open windows, the bustle of streets outside, and the driver’s loud reggae - well, it was 3.5 bajan dollars (£1.40) well spent.
We wandered about (everyone is masked up apart from some tourists - we did the respectful thing and wore them all the time, perspire, perspire..) and got a beer at the careenage, served by some blow-in who’d arrived penniless on his yacht. Also chatted awhile to a local guy who was much amused by my taking photos of the colourful buildings alongside the harbour. These all need knocked down he declared. No soul, some people. Tourists know best, in any case.
Back up the road to watch that sun go down over the sea. Have I mentioned Mount Gay XO? Rather bloody good.
