Turkish spindle

Our craft group had a lovely session on drop spindles today. They’re one of the simplest forms of spinning wool and still actively used in nomadic communities. I spun and plied a small ‘turtle’ of Jacobs fleece on this funky 3D printed spindle. The style is called Turkish because it was historically popular in Turkey. Although like everything else these days a debate rages about whether they should be renamed into something more neutral and less memorable than the name of a nation.
