Two Lane Blacktop

Another day, another toy car.

A model of the Goldfinger Aston Martin, sadly not the cool 1965 Corgi die cast toy,  just a cheap version.

Anyway, pre primary school I had the Corgi version with such cool features as an ejector seat and bullet proof screen. It disappeared one day, probably stolen, never really recovered from the trauma.

My memory of the car was that it was gold coloured which was odd as in the film the car was silver, always put this down to a false memory but it turns out it really was gold coloured. I  know this as Corgi have just rereleased  the model at the cost of £27, a lot of money for a toy model car but I was tempted. The advertising by Corgi makes bold claims that the new model is more detailed than the original but retains all the working features. On checking a  large number of on-line reviews seems the new model is actually a very poor imitation lacking the original's detail and some of the moving features simply don't work.

Guess I won't be buying one now..
