Woody Woodpecker?

I didn't have to go far for a blip today. I was just leaving the house when I saw this fella on one of the trees on the island opposite. I had seen him before but did not have my camera to hand.

Is this the same sort of chap the twitchers were looking at through their binoculars to see the other day in a blip? I'm pretty sure this one is a woodpecker, but more than that I do not have a clue. If anyone can identify it, please let me know.
