The Chosen One

We visited our local woods today. There are signs that the bluebells are beginning their journey, with foliage pushing through the fallen leaves.

Many tree roots are covered in delicate mosses with tiny seed heads piercing through the dense little leaves. I chose this fine  specimen, still clutching a sample of its former coverings, to represent it's many siblings.
