Ray Harryhausen Titan of Cinema Exhibition

Today we visited the Ray Harryhausen Titan of Cinema Exhibition in Edinburgh. Ray Harryhausen was a pioneer in special effects for cinema. He created special effects for such films as Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of Titans. He used stop motion animation to create the effects. This is where the models are moved by a small amount each frame and then the frames are put together to create the illusion on movement. There are usually 24 frames per second.

The entry I posted contains from top left clockwise King Kong (a big influence on Ray), Medusa from Clash of the Titans, the skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts and models from Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger.

We really enjoyed the exhibition.
