Christmas greetings from the front

Looking through a collection of memorabilia of a family friend, we found these WW1 cards from France. They are exquisite hand embroidery. The extra shows the reverse where you can see the embroidery has been glued onto a French postcard base. The local ladies must’ve made and sold them to troops fighting in the trenches. Hard to contemplate. There were Boer War and WW1 medals too.
