Bateman's

After all that rain yesterday, today dawned bright and sunny so I whizzed out for a run. Then R announced he had planned a day out! We went to this National Trust 17th century house and garden. It was the home of Rudyard Kipling and he loved it at first sight. He called it 'a real house in which to settle down' and he lived there for 34 years. The romance and sense of history appealed to him and I can see why. We also had a wander at Bexhill by the sea and a delicious cream tea in the beautiful old village of Alfriston.
Extras: more trees and reflections at Batemans and a 'ballad' on the window of the mill there.
