Long Ago ...

Who remembers when the way to get news quickly from one end of the country to another  - if you didn't have a telephone at home - was to send a telegram. This one was kept by my mother - the good news referred to was my birth the previous day. I was quickly supplanted as the newest grandchild by my cousin Andrew, the baby boy mentioned above.

Not as fast as WhatsAp, but I don't suppose many of those messages survive for 76 years.
