Yew Tree Avenue

We visited the rather unique avenue of topiaried yew trees that line what was the carriage driveway to Clipsham Hall in Rutland. Whilst I wouldn't describe it as beautiful it certainly has it's own charm. The Forestry Commission was given a 999 year lease in 1955 but in 2010 announced that it could no longer continue to undertake the annual trimming to maintain the 137 trees. In 2012 a local charity was formed to take over and maintain the avenue for folk to enjoy.
