Urangan Pier, 1km long

Staying at Hervey Bay waterfront for 2 nights. Walked along the esplanade to the Urangan Pier. Built in 1917 to transport sugar cane and coal from the area. It was 1.14 km long until they started removing it in the early 1980s. Fortunately the local protests meant the pier was preserved all be it 200m shorter…..
