Not Nighthawks

I've never been to America but I have half an idea of what diners are like from one of my favourite paintings, Edward Hopper's Nighthawks.

I took my grand-daughter shopping to Bluewater today and she suggested Byron for lunch. The chain was founded by Old Etonian Tom Byng who wanted to recreate the 1950s dining he had experienced in The Silver Top diner in Providence, Rhode Island.

We had lovely juicy burgers washed down with root beer. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Byron partly from Lord and from byre.
