Before the Storm

Today I drove up to Morwenstow on the North Cornwall coast and walked to Marsland Mouth, where a stream acts as the boundary between Devon and Cornwall. This is a wild and rugged coast and in times past many ships were wrecked on the jagged rocks here. With Storm Eunice expected in the early hours of tomorrow morning, we have been told to expect winds of up to 100mph. Despite appearances, the wind here this afternoon was not too strong, even on the cliff tops. It was also warm enough to sit on the deserted beach at Marsland Mouth for lunch. It was low tide and the sea seemed distant, but constantly affirmed it's presence with a continuous, dull roar.
