McCallister Park

In 1971 James P. McAllister deeded land he owned to the County of Suffolk, which in turn dedicated this 113 acre scenic seafront property for parks purposes. Over the years the site, which includes Pirates Cove has become very popular with boaters, who anchor near the shoreline during the summer months. It is a beautiful spot to hike the dunes there and take in the view. The problem with this park is there are only about 4-5 parking spots, and they are almost full. I tried today and there was only one other car there, a miracle. The entrance to the park is in an affluent community called Belle Terre and you can not park on the street there. The village police are quick to ticket any cars not parked in the small designated parking area. I was there for a while, but it was windy and soon got quite cold.
In other news, since I have snow drop envy with all the snow drops I have seen people blipping lately, the ones that I planted last year are starting to emerge. Stay tune for some snow drop blips.
