Chilly Spring

This is one of my favourite bits of road on a favourite walk, along the east shore of Loch Striven. I've rarely seen it as dry as it is just now; the burns are a mere trickle and the land is brownish-grey rather than the green we might be expecting to see return. It's a bit like living in the tundra (not that I ever have), with the streaks of snow still on the hillsides and the cold east wind blowing.

However, today I saw my first lambs, and there were primroses and violets by the side of the road ...
