Goosander

A lovely sunny morning for a walk round the reservoir.
There was a solitary female goosander in the water repeatedly dipping her head in the water searching for food. You can maybe just make out in the extra, a little fish in her beak.
Coincidentally a radio programme on BBC Scotland this morning, had the Goosander as it’s mystery bird. I hadn’t known that male goosanders fly off to Norway for their annual moult in the spring leaving the females to incubate the eggs and raise the young alone.
I remembered to take some mealworms with me today so the blue tit and robin were happy recipients.
