No deer today!

This morning, I went for a walk as it was cold but bright and pleasant.
I was hoping to see some deer but recently, I’ve hardly seen any.
I met a man on my walk and I mentioned this to him.
He said a local farmer/landowner had employed someone to shoot the deer.
I guess there is an argument for killing sick deer but it seems to me that deer have a tough enough life what with fast cars and recent storms.
I like deer.
