Photographic Poeticisms

Hanging

So it hung there
Uncertain
As to whether it belonged
To day
Or to night
Baleful it glared
Through misty cloud
A reminder of warmth
A teaser
Laughing up its sleeve of cloud
Knowing
We waited
Knowing
Our desperation
Knowing
The desperation of the land
That sat
Sodden and cold
Frost covered
Banked up with ancient snow
Shivering
In long dead
Still living
Winter
It knew
It knew
But still
It hung
And watched
