Abalone Season

We spotted the 'abalone recreational fishing' was on this morning, plenty of surf life guards were there both on the water and in their boats as well as some on the look out from the coastal path where we walk, scores and scores of people were out this morning, mostly from the asian community, they do like their abalone, this event is allowed twice in this month for a two hour period and each diver is allowed a certain limit, no more than is designated by the fisheries dept. they too we're out ni full force to monitor things.
Abalone is a type of mollusk that clings to the rocks just off our shores, a prized delicacy within the asian community, it was almost overfished a short time ago almost to extinction, the reason for the cap in numbers that may be prised off the rocks and for only a short period of time to fish, this has helped the mollusk (or snail) to thrive, personally i wish it was banned altogether, and just leave then be.
