Oh to have a gas fire when the power is off...

Thanks to the storm Eunice, I have no idea where the weekend went and am catching up with blip. 


The storm hit mid-morning and the wind ramped up.  Neighbours fences went flying, walls went over and trampolines moved around gardens and then the power went.  We tried to work with the laptops we had as our Internet was still working on battery but it was not happening.  In the end I gave up on work.  Rich worked for a bit longer but it was quite difficult.
 
We set up for the evening as there was no sign of the power coming back.  I had to work out what to cook for dinner and have the fridge open for a shortest time possible.  We decided on oven chips (cooked in a dry frying pan), ham and beans.  These all seemed like things which needed to be used if the fridge was warming up.  Dinner actually turned out okay!
 
We sat in front of the fire with Holly not really reading, playing with our phones and just generally being glad to have a gas fire.
 
We still had no Internet but the fridge had got a little warm with having been opened.  I decided to move stuff out of the freezer into the fridge to keep the fridge cool and if the electric came back we could cook the freezer stuff and put some of the fridge stuff which was fresh into the freezer.  Seemed like an okay idea so we did that and went to bed.
 
We were very pleased to find in the early hours that the electric had come back on but where was the Internet….
