Detail

A panel on the exterior of Fountainbridge Public Library which is where I borrowed W.E.Johns, Zane Grey, Richmael Crompton and the like when I was a boy. Built in 1934 it's a fine Art Deco building, designed by John Alexander William Grant. Maybe Sean Connery went there as it's a short distance from his home. The working class character of Fountainbridge and the idealism of libraries is is reflected in this simple mural, flanked by stylised thistles.
